If you are finding your work wear wardrobe in a rather lack lustre state then take a look at this. Pencil skirts, pants suits in ubiquitous black, white, grey and navy blue are all well and good but if you don’t have to wear a uniform to work, why subject yourself to the same old stuff. So take a moment while I give you a few of my ideas to brighten your Monday blues while maintaining your professional cool.
I am obsessed with the midi skirt right now. The length is feminine, elegant and alluring. I have paired this metallic pleated skirt with a printed, button-up shirt which has a loose fit. This outfit coupled with black accessories looks sophisticated and does not overwhelm. So the next time you are feeling a little uninspired by what you have to wear to work, why not be brave and wear a colour you not necessarily think to wear to the office.
Don’t be afraid of prints. Pants are all the rage and this printed pair is a gem for your collection. The prints stands out when paired with a white shirt and statement heels. Another of my favourite things is Mansur Gavriel and their black leather bucket bag I have paired with this outfit is a definite “must-have”.
Okay, okay I will concede that this one will take a lot of persuasion or confidence and definitely certain amount of attitude to wear and maintain your dignity but for the braver souls among us bear with me. The pants suit is a simple, tried and tested wardrobe staple and now it’s been shocked into life by being made in a highly unexpected bubblegum colour. The pants is a simple, straight-leg cut and the blazer is tailored to have a slim fit. I have paired the suit with a printed pussy-bow blouse and classic, floral printed pumps to break up the solid pink colour scheme. Finally for those who aren’t feeling in such a daring mood, each individual piece can look great when paired with neutrals, such as black or white closet staples. Although, if you are up for it mix and match the individual pieces with unexpected colours.
Culottes have gone from fashion trend to wardrobe staple and this striped cotton cropped pair should definitely be on your shopping list for when summer 2016 comes around. I have paired the simple silhouette with classic and elegant pieces in another version of the pants suit only, not as bold…
Finally the last look I have for you is something a little more summery and fun. Don’t be afraid to have fun with colour. Combining colours a trend for the upcoming seasons and something everyone should try. This boldly striped white and yellow dress is perfect for the office as well as taking from day to night. It stand out when paired with complementing blue accessories.
I hope you have enjoyed reading this piece and that it has filled your mind with wonderful ideas to make your office wardrobe feel a little more inspired.
